X Marks the Spot - CD/LP, mp3's

When we at Alternative Tentacles see words like "reunion" or "recently reformed," we tend roll our eyes and pay no heed. So imagine our surprise when the reformed Zolar X wrote and performed some new songs that were seriously good, and fit snugly into their old oevre as heard in our Zolar X anthology Timeless (Virus 319). Jello calls Zolar X "the missing link between Chrome and the Stooges," Rock Scene called them "Pink Floyd crossed with Black Sabbath"; however you do the math, X Marks the Spot features all new songs that are the triumphant result of an intergalactic cross-pollination of glam, power pop, proto-punk, and a little bit of metal-and, of course, some advanced space elf aesthetic. While their 1970s attempt at intergalactic conquest didn't quite consummate, Zolar X's tireless ambition and diligent songwriting efforts pay off in yet another stellar work. You got over the alien antennae and Spock haircuts and loved Timeless. It's time to get over the "reunion" label and get ready for X Marks the Spot!

Alternative Tentacles; CD/LP: Alternative Tentacles Records was established in June of 1979 and is most likely the longest lasting (and still active) underground record labels around. Although it is perceived by many as a "punk" label, having released records by Dead Kennedys and others, it is actually best known for its impact on the world of underground culture.

Timeless - CD/LP, mp3's

Longtime fan Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) released a deluxe edition of Timeless in late 2004. Inspired, Zolar X reformed in 2005. Zolar X have been critically re-evaluated, with praise from the worldwide press. Zolar X articles appeared in the UK's top selling rock magazine MOJO (October 2004) and popular USA rock magazine Blender (September 2006). Timeless and demos of newly recorded Zolar X material are receiving frequent airplay on Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols radio show Jonesy's Jukebox, and on Rodney Bingenheimer's KROQ radio show.
